TOUR: George's Market at Dreshertown - Dresher, PA

George's Market at Dreshertown Owner: George Endrigian Opened:  1977 Cooperative:  IGA Location:  1650 Limekiln Pk, Dresher, PA Photographed:  January 6, 2020 Just across the highway from the ACME we last saw, we are checking out George's Market at Dreshertown. For many years, this was the Dreshertown Shop n Bag until Thriftway Shop n Bag dissolved in 2016, when it became George's Market at Dreshertown with IGA's Retail Marketing Group. I visited in early 2020 when the store was working on a remodel. The grand aisle was in the process of being expanded out the right side of the store, although as we'll see the store was quite nice before too. A cafe with beer and wine has been added here. Here's the section that has since become part of the grand aisle next to the main supermarket. But the interior even as it was, was quite attractive. Our first part of the grand aisle here has the deli and prepared foods on the right side, and bakery in an island on the left s

TOUR: ACME Markets - Dresher, PA

ACME Markets Opened: 1958 Previous Tenants:  none Location:  1825 Limekiln Pk, Dresher, PA Photographed:  July 30, 2021 It's our second day in Dresher, and we're here to tour what may be the oldest continuously operating ACME out there (it's certainly in the top 3, I believe). The 24,000 square foot store was constructed in 1958 as part of this small strip mall, then remodeled outside in the 1970s. It's a similar (but 1990s-updated) facade to the famous former Manasquan store. As we see, there are any number of historic ACME characteristics around the property and outside. We'll see plenty more inside, too, but we can tell from the outside that the storefront got a major upgrade in the 1970s. Note the details, including around the windows and on the building itself, that match the Colonial Cottage model. I would link to Acme Style here, of course, but the blog seems to have moved to a supermarket upstate, if you know what I mean. We enter to see the 1970s layout v

TOUR: Sprouts Farmers Market - Dresher, PA

Sprouts Farmers Market Opened: 2020 Previous Tenants:  none Location:  2001 Welsh Rd, Dresher, PA Photographed:  December 28, 2021 A few months ago, we saw the Sprouts Farmers Market in Marlton, NJ. Sprouts has been expanding lately in the Philadelphia area, with a few stores in PA/NJ/DE in this region. The newest is in Philadelphia itself, but one of the newer ones is here in Dresher, which opened in September 2020. The store is one of the anchors of this mixed-use development (which, by the way, is across the street from a similar development anchored by a Fresh Market), and it's a nice example of a newer Sprouts. It's a similar layout to the Marlton store, but just a few differences are present. Deli/bakery are on the right side here, with meat/seafood behind it in the back right corner. Produce is on the back wall with dairy in the back left corner, with frozen on the left side wall. Grocery and HABA are on the left/center area of the store, with bulk foods in the front.
