No problem -- that was one of the very first stores I photographed back in 2017 and posted in 2018 . Let's return to check it out! This store opened around 2015, though I haven't been able to nail down an exact opening date. This space has been a supermarket for at least a decade, maybe more, though back in the 70s and 80s it was a furniture store. The store has now been expanded from just 4600 square feet (plus possibly a basement) to 7500 square feet, and a parking lot has been added to a formerly vacant lot next door. The entrance will soon be moved over to the left side, facing the parking lot, although right now it's still under the City Fresh sign above. The exterior has gotten fixed up ...

If this store's exterior looks vaguely familiar, that's because we've actually toured this exact store before! Okay, it was back in our first trip through Westchester , in August 2017. I first visited this store back in February 2017 when it was the independent Greenside Market. Greenside closed in late 2018 with new owners taking over in early 2019 and gut-renovating the store. When I visited in March 2019, the store was still in its soft-opening phase, with permanent exterior signage yet to be installed ( it has since ). Now we've already seen Greenside, but I'm going to include some of those pictures in this post to do a kind of before-and-after comparison. 2017 2019 Grand opening festivities aside, the store has little change outside. As we'll see, this is not the case inside. All new cases in the produce department, which still lines the left side of the store. As we move north through Westchester county, we'll be stopping in the towns of Eastchester, Scarsdale, White Plains, Ardsley, and Hastings-On-Hudson, generally circling up the east side, across west at White Plains, the large city of central Westchester, and then a few stores to the southwest of the city. For a little bit of a bigger picture view, we're still heading north of New York City through the direct northern suburbs through Westchester and then Putnam counties, crossing the border into central Connecticut and then circling back south along the INT-95 corridor. We'll then finish up New York State before attacking New Jersey. But that's all far in the future, let's stick with central Westchester for now!

This City Fresh Market, at 68 W Post Rd in White Plains, NY, opened around 2015 in a store previously called only "Supermarket" on the front. The Cherry Valley Marketplace and City Fresh Market stores are owned by A&E Supermarket Group and are partially supplied by General Trading Co. of Carlstadt, NJ (but remain under the operation of Associated Supermarket Group). This store is quite small. It also doesn't have a parking lot, and the piled snow around made parking difficult. However, most shoppers at this store don't drive to the supermarket, but live in the neighborhood and walk. This side street, at the top of the hill, becomes residential, but Post Road (straight ahead) is a commercial street. This store is, in fact, strangely similar in layout to the Ridgefield Market . Despite the store's small size, it is a full-service supermarket. And because A&E is awesome, we can get 360-degree views inside almost all of their stores on Google Maps....

For today's store tour, we're heading back up to the Rockland/Westchester County, NY area to the city of White Plains, NY. White Plains is the major hub (and county seat) of the generally affluent Westchester County; however, the city itself has some lower-income neighborhoods. One of them contains this small supermarket, the independent Greenside Market. It opened as a C-Town around 2012, which makes sense because Krasdale Foods (which operates C-Town supermarkets) has its headquarters in White Plains. As usual, this 2014 street view is from Google Maps. C-Town closed or converted to Greenside soon after. The new store combined with the pretty spiffy exterior gave me high hopes for the interior. However, upon walking inside, I encountered a pretty sad store that obviously isn't doing the volume it needs to, but also that isn't stocking the number of products it should.
