Weis Markets Opened: 2011 Previous Tenants:  Scot's Lo-Cost (1990s-2011) Location:  801 N Loyalsock Ave, Montoursville, PA Photographed:  August 15, 2022 It's been a while since we've seen a very new and large Weis, or at least since we've toured one. So how about we take a look around Montoursville? It's not huge, at just under 50,000 square feet, but it's certainly spacious and big enough. And while it is nice and freshly renovated with the second-gen Fresh Market decor, it actually wasn't built with this decor -- or as a Weis at all. It was built as a Scot's Lo-Cost supermarket, owned by Weis, in the 1990s. In 2011, Weis switched the store over to their main banner and did what appears to be an extensive renovation on the store. In a pretty standard Weis Fresh Market layout, we enter to the grand aisle with produce on the left side, and prepared foods, deli, cheese, and bakery on the right side, with meat and seafood at the back. ALDI Food Market Opened: unknown Previous Tenants:  none Location:  2595 Wilmont Dr, Montoursville, PA Photographed:  August 15, 2022 Today's store is this roughly 18,000 square foot ALDI in Montoursville, just off of the interstate (180) and just to the north of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. Unfortunately, I don't have much information about the history of the store, beyond the fact that it opened before 2009 and that it was renovated to its current look around 2017. GIANT Food Stores Opened: early 2000s Previous Tenants:  Nichol's Location:  1969 E 3rd St, Faxon, Loyalsock, PA Photographed:  August 18, 2022 Very quick look today at the GIANT in Faxon, in Loyalsock Township. GIANT opened this 63,000 square foot store in the early 2000s in what was previously a Nichol's department store, replacing an older 45,000 square foot store across the street. We're just east of the Weis and former A&P in Faxon we've seen recently, and up next, we continue to head east from Williamsport into Montoursville. Weis Markets Opened: 1950s Previous Tenants:  none Location:  305 River Ave, Faxon, Loyalsock, PA Photographed:  August 18, 2022 Welcome to the Weis of Faxon! This is a very old-school Weis, having been built in the 1950s (probably within a few years of Sunbury , juts under 30 miles south). Unlike the downtown Sunbury location, this store has been expanded and renovated, bringing it to its current 39,000 square feet or so. The store faces the side street, River Ave, with the registers running along this wall as seen above. The parking lot is mostly in what's now the front facing 3rd St. We enter to that side of the store with produce and deli in what amounts to the grand aisle. Meat/seafood run along the back wall of the store, with dairy/frozen on the right side and pharmacy/bakery in the front right corner -- or approximately where the words fresh market are in the above picture.
