Location:  395 Lynnway, Lynn, MA Photographed:  July 14, 2019 and August 3, 2019 At the southern edge of the city of Lynn is this Price Rite, a new-build store around 2006. It's in a small strip mall out on Lynnway just across from the Lynn Ferry Terminal. The Lynn Ferry is run by the MBTA and goes to and from downtown Boston. (Not bad, that you can ride from Lynn to Boston for $7 in about 40 minutes, which at rushhour is pretty good.) Price Rite is, of course, the discount supermarket branch of Wakefern Food, which primarily runs independently-owned ShopRite stores. There are no Price Rite trucks, so you'll see ShopRite trucks driving around Massachusetts -- a state with no ShopRites -- delivering to the state's many Price Rites. Price Rite Marketplace Opened: October 1, 2025 Owner:  Wakefern Food Previous Tenants:  Kmart > Ollie's Bargain Outlet Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Location:  881 Wolcott St, Waterbury, CT Photographed:  October 9, 2025 Here in Waterbury, CT, Wakefern has just opened up its latest Price Rite location. As you might be able to guess from the outside, it's carved out of a former Kmart, a space that was Ollie's Bargain Outlet after Kmart closed (and Ollie's has since moved up the street). The 34,000 square foot space has now been renovated and reopened as the latest Price Rite. Price Rite is Wakefern's discount banner, and they haven't done a lot of store openings lately. In fact, in the last five years or so, they've mostly closed stores. This one is particularly interesting, though, because it's just next door to a ShopRite that recently closed and became a Stop & Shop (that space itself was originally a Price Chopper). Originally the Family Food Land, this supermarket became Save-A-Lot between 2002 and 2007, then converted to Price Rite when its owner, Madison Foods, left Save-A-Lot and joined Wakefern in 2020. Here's a look at the entrance to the mall, which is (amazingly) a rather busy, fully-indoor mall. You can't even get to the supermarket without going through the interior mall hallway. The mall is small -- only about 100,000 square feet -- and anchored by the Marshalls and Price Rite, but also has a number of small stores. The Price Rite looks a lot l...
