And having opened just 11 years ago, it's not that old. (An older store is in Burlington , farther outside the city.) Since this store's opening, H Mart has also opened up shop in Quincy , Brookline , and Somerville . This store backs up to a municipal parking lot, where there's another entrance to the supermarket. The front-end crosses the store here, with the food court nearer to Massachusetts Avenue in the front of the store, to the left in the above photo, and the main supermarket is in the back of the building, to the right in the above photo. The supermarket is just shy of 20,000 square feet, though a recent remodel brought it up to around 24,000 square feet. More on that remodel later. You enter off ...

Original Grocery Tenant: Harvest Co-Op Market Address: 580 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA Opened:  2012 Closed:  2018 Later Tenants:  non-grocery tenants Photographed:  June 30, 2019 We've seen Harvest Co-Op's former location in Jamaica Plain , and now it's time for a look at their other closed location at Central Square in Cambridge. The local cooperatively owned natural food store chain went under in 2018. This store had only opened in 2012, moving from what's now H Mart across the street. This was a very small storefront, though, probably not more than a couple hundred square feet. The space is now a cannabis store. Just a block west, another small grocer recently closed -- Daily Table, a nonprofit chain, which you can see here . And tomorrow we're headed to the north for a look at the Whole Foods at Central Square!

But there were previously multiple, and you can read more extensively about them here . Harvest Co-Op was the last survivor, as several of the other independent coops merged to form Harvest with two locations. One was at Central Square in Cambridge, to the north of Boston, and the other was here in the Forest Hills section of Jamaica Plain. Though the Harvest Co-Op was in business for a longer time, their tenure at 3815 Washington was short -- they were the first tenant in this space when the building was constructed in 2012, and this and the other location both closed in 2018 .
