Time to tour a Nashua Market Basket! The city has three, plus a handful in the various suburbs, and we'll be taking a look at a few over the next couple weeks. This store is in the far northwestern corner of Nashua, where the city intersects with Hollis, Merrimack, and Milford. It was built in the 90s, possibly replacing an older store in this mall or elsewhere, and measures around 70,000 square feet.
Dairy is in the first aisle on the left side, with seafood and deli at the back of the first aisle. Meat lines the rest of the back wall, with produce and frozen on the right side. This store has the updated Market's Kitchen and bakery departments in the front-right corner, but no cafe, so it's clear it's an older and updated store rather than a newer one.
Though it was busy, this also feels like it's not Market Basket's premier store in the area. (That would be the Amherst Street one, opened 2013 and about two miles east.) It's in a kind of dead mall, with some vacancies. It's not in bad shape, but it felt a bit more bedraggled than most Market Baskets I visit.
Beer and wine are between frozen and produce on the right side of the store. You can see the older freezers here indicating the store's age.
Market Basket doesn't generally have department signs, so this sign over the flowers was surprising. Possibly a result of a store manager's decision rather than a corporate one, since it's not very common.
On Monday, The Market Report will visit that newer Amherst Street location!
