Unlike the tiny, dated Concord Market Basket we saw a while back, this Hooksett one is more typical of the family-owned chain. It was constructed in 2011 with all the bells and whistles of a modern MB, and it spans around 80,000 square feet -- a more standard footprint for the chain than the tiny one in Concord of just a quarter of that size.
The layout is standard for a Market Basket, with dairy on the left side. Cheese, deli, and seafood are at the back of the first aisle, with meat lining the back wall. Frozen foods, beer/wine, and produce are on the right side, and the bakery and Market's Kitchen/Market's Cafe sections are in the front-right corner.
Beer and wine are commonly sold in New Hampshire supermarkets, but less common in other nearby states like Massachusetts. Hard liquor is only sold in state-run liquor stores in NH, though.
Hooksett is about four miles north of Manchester, the largest city in New Hampshire, and that's where tomorrow's posts will be!
