It's where the bay and its islands meet the mainland, and where the Penobscot River meets the bay. If you're driving north on route 1 through this area, you actually have to briefly leave the mainland to enter Verona Island via the incredibly scenic Penobscot Narrows Bridge , then you reenter the mainland just next to this Hannaford.
