One look at the outside of this Citi Grocer makes it clear that this is a relatively new store, but it actually dates back to the 1960s when it was constructed as a Food Fair supermarket. The approximately 40,000 square foot building was later converted to a clothing discounter named Daffy Dan's, which later became just Daffy's . When all their stores closed around 2012, this one was taken over by the owners of another nearby supermarket . Our next Newark store tour, and the only major supermarket in the Ironbound that's not a Seabra Foods or a Seabra's Market, is this Met Foodmarket on Ferry Street just over half a mile east of yesterday's Seabra . This 9600 square foot store was expanded from an original 7900 square feet, and the expansion makes up the first aisle, to the far left of the store. Now for the post! Jersey City, one of the largest cities in the state, has multiple different neighborhoods that all have very distinct personalities. A while back, we toured the Aquí Market on Sip Ave in Jersey City (since closed), which is in the Journal Square neighborhood, a cosmopolitan and very diverse section of the city.
