Location:  1643 NY-82, LaGrangeville, NY Photographed:  May 2016 I'm frequently surprised at how small some of these new SRS ShopRites are, and this one is only 47,000 square feet. It was, however, formerly an A&P and I visited right after opening in 2016. So be warned, these are bad old cell phone photos. I am forever perplexed by the decision to not use the ShopRite logo on the newer storefronts. Like this . Plus, ShopRite kept A&P's green facade here but made the questionable decision of placing red lettering on it instead of white lettering, which seems it would make more sense. Anyway, this was the first store I visited with the new prototype of decor, which we've now seen in Thornwood and Mohegan Lake . ShopRite of Fishkill Owner:  SRS (ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.) Opened:  2001 Previous Tenants:  Grand Union (planned, never opened) Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Corp. Location:  738 US-9, Fishkill, NY Photographed:  May 2016 I photographed this ShopRite, like the nearby LaGrangeville location, in the very early days of my photography. For reasons beyond my comprehension, I petered out about halfway through this store tour. So expect heavy coverage of the grand aisle and nothing much else. Oh well. Anyway, this store is located just outside Beacon in the Hudson Valley, where we toured a Key Food . This store was planned as a Grand Union, although the chain went under before this store opened. ShopRite (Big V at the time, later SRS) purchased this 60,000 square foot in-progress store. It was likely intended to replace the Grand Union at 1004 Main St in Fishkill, which once looked much more Grand Union-like . Floral department imm...

 ShopRite of Niskayuna Owner:  ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. Opened:  2011 Previous Tenants:  Grand Union Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Corp. Location:  2333 Nott St E, Niskayuna, NY Photographed:  July 2020 Contributor:  Lars D. Our contributor Lars, who has also brought us a look at the Niskyauna Co-Op and the former Grand Union in this mall, has for us a full store tour of the 54,000 square foot ShopRite of Niskayuna! This store, owned by Wakefern's corporate branch SRS, takes up a building built by Grand Union as a replacement for the 20,000 square foot older store. We have a fairly standard layout, with a grand aisle with produce on the right side and deli/prepared foods in an island to the left. Seafood and meat run along the back wall, with dairy and frozen at the far left end of the store and beer on the front wall in that corner. This store previously had a pharmacy but no longer does, which makes me wonder how it's do...
