So as you can see, this is definitely up there with the worst supermarket pictures I've ever taken. Yes, there's a Shaw's back there, and it's a roughly 53,000 square foot store built from the ground up in 2006. Here's what the outside actually looks like, and some glimpses of the interior.

This store is more than double the size of the other supermarket in town, which we toured yesterday and you can see here. And if you're coming to this stretch of Waterbury-Stowe Road from out of town, you're probably not here to visit the Shaw's but instead to visit Ben & Jerry's, whose factory is just across the street. You can tour and get samples. And these are the two grocers of Waterbury, but just north in Waterbury Center, about two miles north, is another specialty grocer that you can tour here.
