And this is an important one. 99 Ranch Market, the west coast-based Asian supermarket chain, has arrived for the first time in New York City. Beginning in 2016, the chain established a presence in the area, with Jersey City and Edison opening that year. Hackensack opened in 2018 -- all three were former Pathmarks -- and then 99 Ranch moved north with a store in Quincy, MA in 2020 and east with a store in Westbury, NY in 2022. They've now opened their latest east coast store, a 22,000 square foot store in downtown Flushing. This North Quincy supermarket has hosted a parade of different brands in the two and a half decades since it was built, and most recently, 99 Ranch -- an Asian supermarket chain based on the west coast -- has opened up, marking their fifth location on the east coast (following New Jersey stores in Hackensack, Jersey City , and Edison  and one in Gaithersburg, MD ). Subsequently, they've opened in Westbury, New York , and are preparing a new store in Queens .
