It's moving right along with most of the work close to done, it seems. It won't be a major change to the store, but just some updates here and there. The most notable thing I saw in the produce department is that a selection of organic produce has been added, not really something that I'd seen here before. You can see organic greens with the tags here (regular greens and vegetables are without tags at the other end). A new refrigerator is going in on the back wall, presumably where cold cuts will be. You can see the older meat case at the far end. And on the left side of the produce department, a new refrigerator case is going in. Har...

This southeastern Brooklyn neighborhood abuts the Jamaica Bay and Paerdegat Basin, across which is Canarsie where we recently saw a CTown in progress . This Key Food, which is just under 20,000 square feet, is one of several supermarkets along Ralph Avenue -- others include Food Way and Foodtown , plus a Caribbean market a block west called The Yellow Market. We first toured this store in 2020 , and since then, it looks like the store has changed ownership or at least management. And along with that, it's been receiving a renovation. While many of the fixtures remain the same, it's been cleaned up quite a bit and the fixtures that have been replaced look good. Key Food Supermarkets Owner:  Shri Persaud Opened:  1998 Previous Tenants:  Unknown Cooperative:  Key Food Stores Location:  1804 Ralph Ave, Georgetown, Brooklyn, NY Photographed:  August 2020 Store tour 1/3 here on Ralph Avenue in Flatlands, Brooklyn (near Canarsie) is an Empire Supermarkets-owned Key Food. The 19,000 square foot supermarket opened in 1998 but I'm pretty sure it would've been a Key Food prior to that, just under different ownership. The name Joseph Verderosa has been associated with this store along with the other Empire Key Food over on Rockaway Parkway in Canarsie, but today, the company is run by Shri Persaud who also owns Food Universe and Green Acre Farms stores. The Food Universe, though a somewhat dated store, is still well-maintained, bright, and clean. The Green Acre Farms, however, is much more dingy and dirty on the inside.
