But with a population of around 10,000 year-round, Keansburg is a full-fledged town, not just a summer trip spot. Since the 1970s, though, it hasn't had its own grocery store (which a lot of local news coverage has mentioned). A circa-1950 Safeway in town became a Finast in the 1960s before closing by 1975. Now, a full (if small) supermarket has returned to town with the opening of the 11,000 square foot Market Fresh. Market Fresh is owned by a local businessman who also owns a handful of convenience stores in and around town, but this is his first full supermarket.
