This is a fun one. The 19,000 square foot Altomonte's Italian Market of Doylestown opened around 2014 in what used to be a car dealership (this stretch of Easton Road is Doylestown's strip mall and car dealership area. Every city needs to have one) and the building has been transformed into a very interesting Italian market and wine store. We enter on the side of the building (where the awning is in the first picture) to the produce department in the back left corner with dairy, frozen, grocery, and meat at the back of the building. A large island with coffee, bakery, olives, and cheese takes up the middle, with prepared foods on the right-side wall. The wine selection, registers, and cafe are at the front of the building. GIANT Food Stores Opened: 2021 Previous Tenants:  Kmart Location:  4375 Swamp Rd, Doylestown, PA Photographed:  December 28, 2021 I've never been too big of a fan of the Ahold side of the Ahold Delhaize stores, although this new GIANT Food Store in Doylestown really might change that. This is one of the latest new GIANT stores, of which there have been quite a few. They've also been doing renovations of their existing stores, but as usual, the renovations are not nearly as impressive as the purpose-built stores like this one. Then again, this one was not built as a GIANT; instead, it opened with the strip mall in 1987 as a Kmart. GIANT moved from a former SuperFresh a few doors down. Let's take a tour of this beautiful store! The 70,000 square foot building contains a grand aisle on the left side, with a Starbucks in the front left corner, with produce and bakery on the left side and deli and prepared foods on the right side. Original Grocery Tenant: SuperFresh Address: 4357 Swamp Rd, Doylestown, PA Opened:  1987 Closed:  2009 Later Tenants:  GIANT Food Stores (2009-2021) Photographed:  December 28, 2021 We are here to check out the former Doylestown GIANT, which was built as a SuperFresh in 1987. The roughly 50,000 square foot store was sold to GIANT Food Stores in 2009, which renovated and reopened it. The facade, however, remains from the store's days as a SuperFresh. The new store opened just weeks before I visited, meaning I saw the old store immediately after its closure. I assume it's no longer so intact. Because when I took a look inside, it looked like they basically shut off the lights and called it a day... There's only so many places I could get a good view of the interior, but when I could see in, I could see that the supermarket was fully intact back there.
