We've seen a few McKinnon's stores so far, including the original butcher shop in Somerville and their Wilmington location. Here's a (really terrible, I know) picture of the Portsmouth location, on route 1 near the coastline. This store was constructed around 1970 as a Shaw's, which was in business with its original Super Shaw's interior all the way until 2008. See the exterior here, and meat, seafood, and dairy. (The other Shaw's in town closed in 2019.) The roughly 35,000 square foot space reopened in 2011 as a location of McKinnon's. Although I haven't been inside, McKinnon's and others have posted several pictures online, so you can check out produce, butcher, seafood, grocery, and frozen/dairy. The store looks pretty great, and it's nice to see they've put some extensive work into the former Shaw's. Today's other post is the other supermarket on route 1 in Portsmouth (there's also a Hannaford downtown and a few other stores in the northern part of town), and that wraps up our look at the Mass/NH coast!
