Given that today we're checking out the spectacular new ShopRite of East Orange, I figured it was only fair that the nearby -- and newly-remodeled -- ShopRite of Livingston got its due, too. You can click on that link to see the store nearly done a couple weeks ago, but it's now held its official grand reopening and the results really are impressive.
Same decor as East Orange here, although as I mention on that post this store is simply older so you can feel the building is older. However, the upgrades in this remodel are really noticeable and top-tier.
The bakery, as I mentioned previously, is all-kosher now. Like I said in East Orange, it seems like Village has gotten back in tune with its customer base (for a while, it seemed like they didn't have much strategy or attention to detail) and now they're extremely well-focused on assembling stores with exactly what customers want in each neighborhood.
Newly remodeled prepared food area, which here has its own side entrance door and row of self-checkouts.
There have been a few full-service prepared food concepts here over time, but now they're all gone except for sushi. Still, the massive hot food and salad bars along with a lot of grab-and-go options more than make up for it.
The new cheese department in the corner, taking a tip from Fairway but without the branding.
Once you get out of the grand aisle, the somewhat dingy drop ceiling reminds us that this isn't a brand-new store. But all the other upgrades are significant.
Looking across the back wall with new decor, all-new refrigeration, and new flooring.
Similar to East Orange, there's some Livingston-specific graphics up here.
The layout didn't drastically change, but all of the refrigeration and freezers are new.
The expanded kosher aisle is across from the service kosher deli...
The opening of this new area was the first major step towards the full remodel here, and it's nice to see they've followed through (and then some) throughout the store.
We are again met with some Livingston-specific graphics as we exit...
(Presumably that's a map of Livingston? Or maybe it's just a map? Either way, it's a nice touch.) It's nice to see Village really on top of their game lately! Don't miss the rest of this weekend's posts here, too...
