Before we begin, just a heads up: this was originally posted in August 2020, but was rewritten with new photos in July 2026. Now for the post! This store of around 10,000 square feet was built around 2010 on the ground floor of a new development on Westchester Avenue, the main business corridor through Longwood. It was originally a Price Choice, part of a local chain, and became an independent called Fair Farm in 2012 which switched to Fine Fare in 2017. So even though it's not brand-new, the inside still feels pretty new.

The deli is right inside the entrance, with produce lining the rest of the first aisle. Beer is at the back of the first aisle, with dairy on the back wall. Frozen foods and meat are on the right side, with meat in the last aisle.

This store is about three blocks west of the new Compare Fresh here in Longwood. It's small, but well-stocked with a lot of fresh foods in a notoriously selection-starved neighborhood.

I've visited this store a few times, and each time it's been all but impeccable. It's nice to see good maintenance in these smaller independent stores.

I don't know how or if Fine Fare differs from either of the previous supermarkets here, but there's a section in the front-right corner that looks like it was previously a service counter. It's possible this was once where the deli was, or maybe there was a butcher or seafood service counter here in the past. Now, it's full of sale items, but you can see the cut-out below.

Longwood has a few other supermarkets, which we'll tour someday... when I finally get around to posting all of the many New York City supermarkets I've photographed but not yet posted!
