We're here in South Philadelphia to check out a brand-new Met Fresh supermarket, and as you might be able to guess based on the trends we've seen for a few years now, this is a former drugstore. A Walgreens, to be specific, previously occupied this space of around 14,000 square feet (there's also a second floor on part of it and there might be a basement, so it's possible the store is actually a bit larger than that). This is the Hamdan family's first venture into Philadelphia, and also one of the relatively few ASG stores in Philly (or possibly the only? I'm not entirely sure). Sprouts Farmers Market Opened: September 4, 2026 Owner: publicly traded Previous Tenants:  non-grocery tenants Cooperative: none Location: 387 N Central Ave, Hartsdale, NY Photographed: September 25, 2026 Sprouts is charging ahead full speed with its northeastern expansion plans, and that includes its first handful of stores in New York. In January of this year, Sprouts opened its first store in the Empire State on Long Island, and now they've added a second in Westchester County, this one just outside White Plains. Like most Sprouts stores, this one is around 25,000 square feet, and it opened on September 4. As a matter of fact, another location also opened on September 4, and that's down in East Windsor, New Jersey. More on that soon. This is a standard modern Sprouts, with meat in the front-left corner and meat, deli, and seafood service counters on the left side wall.
