Sprouts Farmers Market Opened: September 4, 2026 Owner: publicly traded Previous Tenants:  non-grocery tenants Cooperative: none Location: 387 N Central Ave, Hartsdale, NY Photographed: September 25, 2026 Sprouts is charging ahead full speed with its northeastern expansion plans, and that includes its first handful of stores in New York. In January of this year, Sprouts opened its first store in the Empire State on Long Island, and now they've added a second in Westchester County, this one just outside White Plains. Like most Sprouts stores, this one is around 25,000 square feet, and it opened on September 4. As a matter of fact, another location also opened on September 4, and that's down in East Windsor, New Jersey. More on that soon. This is a standard modern Sprouts, with meat in the front-left corner and meat, deli, and seafood service counters on the left side wall. Old World Food Market Opened: September 24, 2026 Owner: Andrew Poma, Jr. Previous Tenants:  Waldbaum's > Orange Farm Market (2002-2025) Cooperative: none Location: 1A Orangetown Shopping Ctr, Orangeburg, NY Photographed:  February 26, 2025 and September 25, 2026 Old World Food Market in Nyack , up in Rockland County, is one of my favorite gourmet grocers in the area. Now, Old World Food Market has opened a second location in the nearby town of Orangeburg. It's a much smaller store at just about 8,000 square feet, but it has everything that makes the original store impressive -- just at a smaller scale. The store is narrow and deep, as it's carved out of part of a former Waldbaum's, one of the chain's few ventures to this side of the Hudson. (The rest became a CVS.) There's a deli with prepared foods in the front-right corner, with produce lining the right-side wall in an alcove. Meat and seafood are at the back, with gourmet cheeses and grocery aisles in t...
