It's time for what will likely be our final update at the Kings in Livingston for some time. After two years of incremental (almost not noticeable) changes, and then the opening of the brand-new kosher department, this Kings has held its grand reopening and as far as I can tell, the renovations (if you can call them that) are all done.
The new office area in the front corner of the store has seen its previous blank white window covers replaced with very nice food pictures, along with some chairs and tables added outside (just in time for the winter).
And finally, there's signage outside advertising the kosher department! I assume we won't get a nice permanent sign on the storefront itself.
And we see the final sign that still had a reference to the closed liquor store, above the main entrance, has been replaced with this new sign which is very nice. It seems that under Albertsons' ownership, the Kings blue has gotten darker. Consider the logo on the website, which is left over from pre-Albertsons, compared to these new signs we'll see around the store.
The produce department is admittedly looking pretty good with the new reset and new signage, although I still wish there had been any real decor change around the store.
New category markers with this darker blue color have been installed around the store, too. Note that not only has Albertsons darkened the blue, but they've added a gold color alongside it, which I think is a very good choice.
I've gotta say, the changes made around the store do look good even though they're minor. I assume we're not getting any further renovations anytime soon, what with the pending Kroger merger.
Some additional signage has been installed on the bread and bakery case, which looks very nice. And for a quick look at the finished renovation area...
Not the greatest pictures ever, but you get the idea. Signage has been installed for the customer service counter as well as all the kosher selections with more signage for the department.
Overall looking good, but I really wanted a major renovation around the whole store -- or even just some new decor here and there! The addition of the kosher department was a good decision, though. Here's our other stops for the day, and tomorrow, we're back into Reading, Pennsylvania!
