Unfortunately, the supermarket in downtown Auburn is rather boring. It is, however, gigantic for a downtown location, but at 77,000 square feet, a bit on the small side for a Wegmans. (For a more interesting supermarket in Auburn and some background on the city, check out Maxwell's Food Store.)
I do give Wegmans credit for designing a store here to integrate into the streetscape of Auburn, with an attractively landscaped property and an unusually shaped building that fits nicely into the property. The interior looks pretty nice, too. If you're dying to see inside a Wegmans, might I suggest touring Canandaigua from our first Finger Lakes visit or perhaps wait until we circle down to one in the Southern Tier in about two weeks. Tomorrow we head down to the southern tip of Owasco Lake for a small independent grocery store on The Independent Edition!
