The last of Stop & Shop's stores closing in 2024 are slated to close this Thursday, on Halloween. Over the last several weeks, I've posted about most of the stores that are closing with tours and, where applicable, a look at what's come into the space following Stop & Shop's departure. I've been hoping to document as many as possible before they close and are gone forever, even those that will continue to operate as supermarkets, to capture what they looked like in their final years... or even days. I'm glad I was able to cover as many of these stores as I could while they were still in business, and while I am no great fan of Stop & Shop, it is always a shame to see supermarkets closing, retail space vacant, and people losing their jobs. But stay tuned for new coverage as the new operators renovate and reopen these stores, and if other supermarkets move into any of the vacant spaces in the future! On the subject of the blog, now that I've posted all of these Stop & Shop stores (and a lot of other time-sensitive updates and special reports), I'm hoping to really get back into the standard posting schedule. I have at least one more weekend of new and updated stores next weekend, but then it should calm down for a while. And don't forget to check out this weekend's other posts...
Interesting many others don't have any future tenants...no wonder dead malls and Spirit Halloween stores exist.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but it also hasn't been that long. In a few more months or a year, it might change quite a bit. Some of these are in very desirable locations; others are not. But I would bet some of them will continue to be filled with new tenants.
