Tops Friendly Markets Opened:  unknown Location:  381 Hamilton St, Geneva, NY Photographed:  2018 and August 2020 Interior images photographed and submitted by Retail Regents Retail Regents  brings us some interior photographs of the Tops in Geneva, NY, in the Finger Lakes which we first saw back in September 2019 as a  Snapshot . The 53,000 square foot store, which looks very nice inside, was located directly across the street from a 72,000 square foot  Wegmans  (which is actually somewhat small for a Wegmans). It closed in late 2018 and is  being subdivided . I like the decor a lot, especially the ceiling panels against the black ceiling, but it's clear many of the fixtures were very old. It's a no-brainer to close this store during Tops' bankruptcy, given its location immediately across the street from a Wegmans. I returned to the area in August of this year and got some exterior pictures of the store after it was...

Ovid Super Market Owner:  Suzanne Cirencione Opened:  1970 Previous Tenants:  Unknown Cooperative:  Big M Supermarkets Location:  7174 Main St, Ovid, NY Photographed:  August 2020 Now onto our second look at a Finger Lakes Big M store! (See the Bloomfield location here .) This store recently changed ownership and has been fixed up a bit. Today, it's looking very good, compared to how it looked in 2007 . The 12,000 square foot store appears to have been expanded very much from its original approximately 4600 square feet. It's recently been remodeled lightly with new roofing and awning outside, plus new flooring inside as we'll see. We enter to a small but very nice produce department in the first aisle. Notice the new flooring and updated produce bins. Looking back up towards the front wall of the store. Tops Friendly Markets Opened:  2010 Previous Tenants:  P&C Foods Location:  1963 Kingdom Plz, Waterloo, NY Photographed:  August 2020 Here's a look at a 49,000 square foot former P&C Foods just outside of Seneca Falls at the top of Cayuga Lake. The store appears to have been approximately doubled from its original size. Inside, this store has the same decor package as the Tops in Skaneateles . If you're like me and you like Tops, don't worry! We'll be seeing three more before we leave this region, plus one former location over on Grocery Archaeology . But for now, our next stop is a smaller store in between Seneca and Cayuga lakes right here on The Market Report.

Wegmans Food Markets Opened:  Unknown Previous Tenants:  none Location:  1 Loop Rd, Auburn, NY Photographed:  August 2020 Unfortunately, the supermarket in downtown Auburn is rather boring. It is, however, gigantic for a downtown location, but at 77,000 square feet, a bit on the small side for a Wegmans. (For a more interesting supermarket in Auburn and some background on the city, check out Maxwell's Food Store .) I do give Wegmans credit for designing a store here to integrate into the streetscape of Auburn, with an attractively landscaped property and an unusually shaped building that fits nicely into the property. The interior looks pretty nice , too. If you're dying to see inside a Wegmans, might I suggest touring Canandaigua from our first Finger Lakes visit or perhaps wait until we circle down to one in the Southern Tier in about two weeks. Tops Friendly Markets Opened:  2010 Previous Tenants:  P&C Foods Location:  40 Fennell St, Skaneateles, NY Photographed:  August 2020 Kicking off our Finger Lakes/Southern Tier group with one of the nicest Tops stores in the area. This was a P&C Fresh location formerly owned by Penn Traffic, which went out of business for good in 2010 with Tops taking most of the stores in this region. This store had just been renovated by P&C, so Tops did only minimal renovations. It previously had a pharmacy, which has since been removed. I couldn't have spent more than 2-3 minutes in the store (less than one song playing on the store's radio).
