We've returned to Botany Plaza for a Look Inside this SuperFresh, which opened in summer of 2019 as a conversion from an Ideal Marketplace. We'll see that, although the store still seems to be a popular shopping choice, some things have been scaled back while others have been expanded.
Produce is still an extremely strong point of the store, with a large selection and still a very large organic department. (Many stores will start with a large organic selection, then find that it doesn't sell as fast as it would need to, then cut the department smaller or remove it entirely. It's still a large part of the selection here.)
Prepared foods are going strong with a new SuperFresh sign. In fact, prepared foods are so strong that they've taken over the bakery counter.
(There's still baked goods here, they're just in self-service cases behind me in the above picture.)
Grocery aisles look mostly the same as they did previously, but with a few modifications in selection. Two particular selections have been greatly expanded, probably due to customer preferences: international foods and organic/natural items. This makes the store more specialized, which makes them more competitive against others in the area.
We can see the Ideal aisle markers have been fitted with SuperFresh stickers.
Seafood seems to be permanently closed, with some new self-service cases installed as endcaps of the facing grocery aisles for packaged fish.
International aisle, a clear focus of the store! And back out in the parking lot, we see the Ideal vans have been modified to have SuperFresh decals...
That's all for this store! Up next we're going to head just across the Passaic River into Garfield, where we'll see tomorrow's store tour right here on The Market Report.

  1. It seems like Key Food is really pushing Superfresh as a market presence.

Fun fact about this shopping center: the Kmart that used to be on the opposite side (and wasn’t even finished until almost three years after Pathmark had already opened) was designed to straddle the Clifton-Passaic border in such a manner that just over half of the building was in Passaic; as such, they were able to take advantage of UEZ rules and get a reduced sales tax rate.

    1. Definitely about SuperFresh... when I turned on my car to go to this store, the radio came on automatically and the first words I heard out of the radio were "Visit superfresh.keyfood.com to learn more. SuperFresh, better store, better living!" I've even started seeing SuperFresh vans going up and down the Parkway... but that's probably just stuff going between Linden/Roselle/Hopelawn and Belleville.

      That's fascinating about the Kmart!
