Our contributor Laura E. brings us another store, and this 27,000 square foot former A&P now houses Cedar Grove's only supermarket. Like Colonia, Washington, and North Haledon, the store was converted in spring 2020 from Foodtown to Wakefern's The Fresh Grocer banner. I actually got the chance to stop by this store post-conversion, so we'll be touring The Fresh Grocer tomorrow! This store was the last to switch, waiting until late April or early May to make the change while the others switched in late February and early March.
You enter to a very cramped but beautiful produce department.
Produce takes up the front corner of the grand aisle, with bakery on the left side and deli-seafood on the right side.
The design is outstanding and makes it feel more like a specialty store than a full supermarket, although the selection is enormous.
Seafood and deli on the right side of the grand aisle with meat continuing along the back wall.
I will say, I do remember the grocery aisles being uncomfortably narrow in a very popular store!
One of the very high-stacked endcaps. Like Washington, one of the items displayed on the endcaps is private label oil and vinegar, imported from Italy...
And we wrap up with a look across the front-end...
And if you like this store, good news! We're seeing it again, with a full tour of my own pictures, tomorrow as The Fresh Grocer!
