Aron's Kissena Farms
Opened: 2009
Owner: Aron Hirtz
Previous Tenants: Kissena Farms
With its various expansions over the years, this store clocks in at around 20,000 square feet, or around 10,000 square feet smaller than the Key Food. The spaciousness inside makes it feel larger than it is, though. You enter to produce at the front of the store along with the registers. Grocery aisles actually run side-to-side here behind produce, with bakery and prepared foods/sushi in islands facing. Frozen foods line the left side wall, with dairy at the back. Meat, seafood, and deli are along the right-side wall.
This store was previously a member of the Allegiance cooperative, but is now independent and supplied by (but not a member of) Wakefern. So you'll spot Bowl & Basket products on the shelves here.
Dairy is in the last aisle on the back wall of the store.
Aron's also has a bulk nuts and dried fruit area in the produce department. Prior to Aron's tenure here, this was an independent grocer called Kissena Farms that doesn't seem to have been kosher. Aron's also briefly expanded into New Jersey with a short-lived store in West Orange that's now the West Orange Fooderie. Fooderie appears to be avoiding the problems that Aron's faced.

Before we begin, just a heads up: this was originally posted in February 2020, but was rewritten with new photos in June 2026. Now for the post! Welcome to Aron's Kissena Farms, a kosher supermarket in the Pomonok section of Fresh Meadows, and when I say it's next door to the nearby Key Food, I mean literally the two parking lots share a side. Key Food has virtually no kosher offerings, though, so there's room for both. This store, although it's an old building, is a bit newer inside and somewhat spiffier than the raggedy-but-packed-full Key Food.Location: 72-15 Kissena Blvd, Queens, NY

That wraps up our look at Aron's!
