Beginning our Stroudsburg area group with a quick look at the Weis in Pen Argyl, PA! The roughly 46,000 square foot store is built around an original 23,000 square foot Mr. Z's IGA, built in 1990 and acquired by Weis in the mid-90s but Weis kept the name Mr. Z's (as they did with King's) until much later, this store converting to the Weis brand in 2008. The store seems to be nice enough, with an early version of the Fresh Market decor, but just wasn't interesting enough for me to go in. What was interesting enough for me to go into, though, was a former supermarket across the street, which we'll be checking out tomorrow on Grocery Archaeology!
