Over a year after Food Bazaar acquired this former Pathmark-turned-Stop & Shop on the border of Gravesend and Coney Island, the extensive interior remodel is now finally coming together. (See my previous update here.) This post has pictures from October 29 and November 29, which I've labeled so you can see the progress in a month.
October
One big change right away: the grocery aisles to the right of the produce department have been removed, and the temporary shelving they were previously replaced with has now been moved so that it runs around new refrigeration that's going to go in here. The new layout also becomes much clearer now that the signage is up. In this case, I actually have a photo of the floor plan, thanks to a map posted by the deli a few months ago.
Unfortunately, it was posted right under the coffee dispensers, hence the many stains. Now here's what the layout seems like it'll be once the renovation is finished (thank you Canva for the beautiful graphics)...
Those grocery aisles to the right of the old produce department will now become the new produce and meat departments, with seafood expanding into what used to be beer -- which has since moved into the snack/beverage area in the front left. The former pharmacy in the front-right corner looks like it's soon to become a deli, meaning that the entire back wall will become grocery. Hard to say at this point what will happen with the old produce department, but my best guess is that they'll add more grocery aisles there to compensate for the loss of the aisles on the right side of the store.
November
By my most recent visit, decor was starting to go in, so it's clear the produce department will be in the front half of what used to be the right-side grocery aisles.
October
Up in the front, the bakery is right next to the entrance, with what used to be a pharmacy next to it. My best guess is that this will become the deli. Although department signage has gone in around the store, the current deli has no sign, making me think it won't stay there. And it's obvious there's something being built behind these tarps...
November
This area, which currently has some temporary grocery aisles, will all become produce.
October
That's clear in these November photos, where signage for organic produce has already gone in (along with signage for Chickwings, which will presumably be at the beginning of the meat department).
November
New refrigeration has been added all along the (angled) right side wall of the store, and the back part seems to be where packaged meat and cold cuts will be going.

October
These temporary grocery aisles at the back of the right side of the store are now giving way to new freezers, for the meat department.
November
I imagine there will be a service meat and seafood counter at the back of this area, though signage isn't up for that just yet.
Here's the back of the new produce case.
October
The new seafood counter is being temporarily stored behind this row of beer, although it looks like this spot might actually be for the service meat counter in the future. The seafood counter doesn't look like it'll move.
November
Here we can see the new signage above the seafood counter is aligned with the existing seafood counter, but the fixture will presumably be replaced.
October
And the layout again becomes clearer when we see the new decor going up along the back wall.
November
It looks like the meat department, once it moves over to the right side of the store, will become grocery. Again, that's probably to make up for the loss of the first seven grocery aisles.
And new signage for dairy and cold cuts has gone up in the last aisle, although it's not yet lit up.
Similarly, new frozen signage is hanging in both frozen foods aisles, but isn't yet lit.
And as I've mentioned before, one of the ways Food Bazaar is able to take out so many grocery aisles here is because the health and beauty selection has been cut back quite a bit. The remaining HABA items are in shelves on the front wall, beyond the registers.
It's exciting to see a big remodel like this coming together, so stay tuned for future updates too. In the meantime, here's a look at this weekend's other posts!
