Linden Fresh Market
Opened: December 21, 2025
I stopped by the store (inadvertently) shortly before it opened -- so the outside was complete but the interior was still under construction, and you can see that picture below. The remainder of the pictures in this post come from last Monday, and I believe the store opened for business the day before.
We're a couple neighborhoods over from another new ASG store, Kalam's Bazaar, and the stores are somewhat similar as they're both modern and attractive, but also both located in stores that had not previously been supermarkets. The interior design is somewhat similar, too.
The grand aisle is on the right side of the store, with beverages on the front wall, baked goods in the front-right corner, deli and hot food on the right-side wall, and produce in the middle. There's a sign for a butcher in the back-right corner, but I didn't see a service butcher counter. Packaged meats and dairy are on the back wall, with frozen in the last aisle on the left side and continuing onto the front wall.
The grand aisle is very spacious -- there's a lot more space here than in the rest of the store. I do wonder if eventually there will be more displays or cases added, but for now, it's pleasantly open. The open ceiling and spot lighting helps, too. Here's a look inside the former Dollar Tree. There's nothing left behind that I could tell.
Though this neighborhood has relatively few supermarkets, there's a fairly small Cherry Valley Marketplace two blocks south of here. The massive Linden Boulevard Food Bazaar, which opened in May, is about a third of a mile east on Linden Boulevard. But at 70,000 square feet, that store is nearly 10 times the size of this one, so it's in a bit of a different category. At around 6400 square feet, the Cherry Valley is more in the range of this store, though slightly smaller.
This part of East New York has some light industrial but also lots of residential areas, including a large public housing complex between here and the Food Bazaar.
New York City has lost a lot of supermarkets over the years, in large part because of rising real estate costs and the general desire to build on these old buildings that are single-story grocery stores. But the city has gained a very significant number of stores too, and a lot of that growth is from stores like this that make their homes in locations that weren't previously grocers.
Meat and dairy line the back wall, with beer and some more baked goods in the first grocery aisle.
Not an inch of this store goes to waste, just like most NYC supermarkets. On the back of the produce department is this spice department, which runs along the rear of the produce refrigerators.
The grocery aisles are narrow but well-appointed. Just looking at the outside (and the size) before they opened, I was wondering if this would be more of a greengrocer/bodega type store, but this is clearly a full supermarket.
This store is a member of the Associated Supermarket Group and sells ASG's Avenue A storebrand alongside some supplemental Best Yet items from C&S.
Eight aisles in total, with nonfoods in the second-to-last and frozen on the outside of the last aisle. Although Dollar Tree did have some frozen foods here, these cases are all new.
Frozen foods continue onto the front wall of the store, with the registers beyond that.
I always love to see these new independent supermarkets pop up, and this one (as are most of the newer ASG stores) seems to be very well-executed. Let's hope it stays that way!
That's all at this little store, but here's a look at this weekend's other posts!

The Associated Supermarket Group continues its expansion spree with another new store in New York City -- this time a former Dollar Tree, which reopened just before Christmas as the Linden Fresh Market. It's a very small store, measuring around 8500 square feet (though there may be a basement). It was actually a new-build Dollar Tree back in about 2014, and Dollar Tree closed around 2024.Previous Tenants: Dollar Tree
Cooperative: Associated Supermarket Group
Location: 2586 Linden Blvd, Brooklyn, NY
Photographed: November 29 and December 22, 2025
