I love that analogy. Now let's take it one step further: this new supermarket in Woodside, Queens is remarkably both a former centennial A&P and  a former Rite Aid, though you wouldn't know about the A&P past just from a look. Associated Supermarkets Opened: March 2026 Owner:  unknown Previous Tenants:  Rite Aid Cooperative:  Associated Supermarket Group Location:  344 Ave X, Brooklyn, NY Photographed:  March 20, 2026 I'm fairly certain this new Associated, which was previously a Rite Aid, was built as a supermarket. But I can't find what supermarket was here prior to Rite Aid through any of my usual channels. Any insight? Now, the 10,000 square foot space is a (very yellow, outside at least) Associated. This store is in the middle of a mostly-residential neighborhood within Gravesend with not that many grocery store options, especially given that the longtime Key Food a couple blocks away on Avenue Z has recently closed. (It was acquired by another operator, and they're currently doing renovations. According to a Facebook rumor, it'll be a NetCost Market, a local chain of Russian and Eastern European stores.)
