Whole Foods Market
Opened: December 2024Recognize the outside of this store? This has the classic facade installed in all Amazon Fresh stores, and that's because this former Toys R Us was slated to be the only Amazon Fresh in New Hampshire. The store measures around 44,000 square feet, so while it's smaller than a lot of supermarkets, it's actually about 1.5 times the size of the other Whole Foods here in Nashua. While this store is laid out exactly like an Amazon Fresh (and that means likely that the Amazon Fresh was fully built out but simply never opened, like so many locations), the decor is drastically different from Amazon Fresh's appearance. Frankly, it's quite beautiful in person.
With the classic Fresh layout, you enter to produce in the front-right corner. Meat and seafood are at the end of the first aisle, with dairy lining the back wall. Frozen foods are in the second-to-last aisle, with the last aisle home to deli, bakery, and cheese. There's a cafe in the front-left corner, and beer and wine are also in the front-left corner opposite bakery.
You can tour several other Amazon Fresh stores in that post I linked above to see that this layout is identical, but the decor and general appearance is distinctly Whole Foods, not Amazon Fresh.
This is a somewhat surprising setup with two supermarkets in the same strip mall, though on opposite ends. There's a Trader Joe's across the parking lot, along with a Market Basket directly across the street, a Shaw's just up the street, and a Patel Brothers in a neighboring strip mall.

The Patel Brothers is tomorrow's tour, so come back tomorrow to take a look!
