Snapshot: Price Chopper - Saugerties, NY

In the small Hudson Valley town of Saugerties, NY is this beautiful Price Chopper Super Center. It was probably a 1990s new-build store.
This is probably one of my better shots. The store inside is quite nice, although a little outdated. It definitely feels like a more old-fashioned store. And strangely enough, it's very large but it has no pharmacy. Maybe there was some problem in getting the permits for it.

    1. Thanks! Sure, you can use any photos you'd like; I'd appreciate if you gave a link to this blog from yours. Congrats, by the way, on your new blog!

Not sure if you can see this on your end, but none of the photos on your blog's Clinton post are showing up for me on any of my browsers. I don't know if that's a problem on my end or with your files, so you might want to look into that. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have!

    4. Great! Yes, the photos are looking fine, and the post was really interesting. Blogger always has some issues, so sometimes it's just trial and error until something works.

    3. Yes. They claimed they were closing "for remodel", but of course that never happened. The owners must have been way overwhelmed in that space because it's a good 4x the size of their other stores (Key Food in Bridgeport and Norwalk, CT).

  3. Looks like it opened in April 2003, which makes sense and also probably not too long after that the Grand Union (by then GU Family Markets) up the street closed (as they tended to do that when competition appeared).

    1. That sounds about right, although I didn't realize they were still building this prototype with this decor as late as 2003. My local Price Chopper has the same store model and decor, although it's seen some minor upgrades, and it opened in the 90s.
