This 12,000 square foot store is located in the less urban Brooklawn neighborhood of Bridgeport. Formerly a Walgreens, this store has been several different supermarket banners all under the same owner, as far as I can tell.
A look at the Key Food from across the street in the parking lot of the International Farmers Market. That's an independent Krasdale market diagonally across the street, which we'll be taking a look inside tomorrow on The Independent Edition!
Inside, the store feels very small but contains no remnants of the Walgreens that previously occupied this space. Walgreens moved to a new-build store about three blocks south on Main St.
Deli and hot food line the right side wall, with produce in the rest of the double-wide first aisle. Meats line the back wall, with a service butcher about halfway across the wall. Cold cuts are in the back corner, with dairy and frozen in the last aisle.
Produce with department signage we typically see in CTown. I believe that this decor was developed by Corona, NY-based Kenan Sign for Krasdale Foods but it seems other stores have been using it as generic decor.
Looking along the back wall with meat and butcher.
Narrow grocery aisles, but man are they nicely stocked and clean!
Cold cuts in the back corner around the corner from the butcher counter.
Looking along the back wall.
Frozen and dairy in the last aisle. I'd assume that the cases seen here were brought in secondhand from another store when this one opened as a Fine Fare.
A look at the front end. This Key Food is a very nice reuse of a former pharmacy! It's a well-maintained and vibrant urban supermarket. The International Farmers Market across the street is also very interesting, so head over to The Independent Edition tomorrow to check it out!
