I've returned to the new Metro Acres Market in Schuylerville, the Bronx to visit the store after its opening! My unfortunately-timed last visit was just days before it actually opened. The store is only 8300 square feet, so it's pretty small, and although it was most recently a Rite Aid-turned-Walgreens, it started out as a Crest supermarket, later a Big V. As I mentioned on that post, the store was apparently originally slated to be a Fine Fare, but it switched to Metro Acres prior to opening. And as I mentioned, there seems to be not much difference between those brands.
You enter on the left side of the storefront to the grand aisle, with deli/bakery on the left side and produce on the right side. Meat and refrigerated produce are in the back half of the grand aisle, with a short half-aisle. Frozen lines the back wall, dairy in the last aisle, and beer in the front-right corner.
As you can see, the store is attractive but simple. It bears some similarities in general design to the Washington Heights store I linked above, but lacks any decor or signage inside except aisle markers. Still, it's a pleasant, attractive store.
Service deli, but to save space, the counter is also a self-service case for grab-and-go items. No in-store bakery, but I did spot breads and baked goods from Bronx bakeries like Terranova and Zaro's. Naturally, there's no shortage of good bakeries around here, and many of them (like those two) are equipped to produce commercial products for other stores.
Meat in the back-left corner...
I actually really like the color scheme here. The colors are muted, but everything isn't gray. That's really unpleasant, especially in a smaller store.
It looks like all of the fixtures here were brand-new. Everything looks sleek and clean and modern.
Dairy lines the last aisle. Five aisles, not including the produce and meat departments.
And four checkouts. You can see it's a good-looking store and new independent grocers make me happy!
Schuylerville is in the southeastern Bronx, and is a pretty suburban neighborhood -- more houses with lawns and driveways than large apartment buildings and the like. As you can see in the exterior photos, this store does have a parking lot.
