The Grocers of Lynn

Thanks for touring Lynn, Massachusetts with me! There aren't that many supermarkets here, but if you missed any or just want to see where they're located, check out the map below. As usual, red markers indicate a store tour, blue markers are a snapshot, and yellow markers are a look inside.

Coming Up Next

We're continuing north along the north shore to the Salem area! You're probably familiar with Salem because of its Shaw's and Market Basket, but did you know there's also important American history there? Joking aside, the Salem Witch Trials may have given Salem notoriety (and throngs of tourists on witch walking tours through the downtown), but the city of 45,000 is also a scenic New England coastal city in its own right. Just to the southeast is the gorgeous peninsula of Marblehead, one of the first towns to be settled in this area. In fact, many houses in the historic district have signs with their year of construction, the original owner's name, and the original owner's occupation. We'll also head inland a bit for a look at a few stores in Swampscott and Lynnfield (five miles northwest of Lynn), then to the north for a look at Beverly, Wenham, Hamilton, and Middleton. Some good news: until we get farther north in New England, Lynn was the last group that I photographed back in 2019, and almost everything we're about to see comes from 2021 or later -- meaning the cell phone photo quality will be much better! In fact, there's only a handful of stores left at all that I photographed pre-COVID but haven't posted yet (only a couple dozen, which when you think about just how many stores I've been to -- nearly 6000 -- that's not that many at all). That's coming up next over the next three weeks or so, so stay tuned and I'll see you tomorrow for a look at two area Whole Foods!
