The SuperFresh in Woodland Park is finally close to opening! It's been delayed several times, and most recently the opening seems to have been pushed back from September 5 to September 12, per Key Food's social media. Here's a look at the store in progress a few months ago.
The outside is essentially done except for some minor finishing touches, and because the windows were papered over I couldn't get a good look inside. But Key Food (as of Friday) was saying the opening would be this coming Friday, so that's likely when it will be. By the way, the balloon man on the right above is for the neighboring mattress store, not the SuperFresh.
It's an attractive, simple but eye-catching exterior -- and a big step up from the previous facade. This whole building, by the way, used to be an A&P, and later an Asian supermarket called A-Mart was supposed to open in the space that's now a SuperFresh. SuperFresh will compete with multiple nearby supermarkets, including an ALDI, an Amazon Fresh, a ShopRite, and an upcoming LIDL. The branding really looks great on the outside here.
There are now about 40 SuperFresh stores affiliated with Key Food. This one will share ownership with the nearby stores in Clifton and Passaic, as well as the Food Universe in Clifton. I'll be back when this store opens, but in the meantime, don't miss the other post today as well as yesterday's big price comparison!

  1. Good to hear! I was worried the place was abandoned. There has not been a sign of life on the outside for weeks now. And yes, the exterior looks fantastic! I wouldn't be surprised if this store gets more traffic than the Amazon Fresh... which is deader than dead every time I stop by. (And empty shelves continue to be standard operation). I often need to grab a thing or two when I'm on 46 East and hoping this store will be the perfect stop. LIDL will be great too but not nearly as easy getting in and out of.

    1. When I was there on September 2, there seemed to be work going on inside and some activity on the side/back of the building. They had a large tent or tarp area set up on the side, in a place not visible from route 46, so maybe they've just been using the back door exclusively.
