Please excuse the Pennsylvania interruptions, but there's a lot back in NY and NJ to take a look at. Welcome back to Middlesex, where we've tracked the development of the
former Price Saver into the newest New Jersey SuperFresh. I wish I had more recent pictures, but unfortunately, these from back in June are the best I can do.
The roughly 53,000 square foot store is nearly complete, although the opening of the supermarket was pushed back from October 13th to October 20th. We can see that the
sign has been installed outside, though, along with
some other signage around the building.
When I visited back in June, work had been progressing to rearrange the entrance to the store. We can get a good idea of what the new setup is below...
Of course, the area had been boarded up for construction work when I visited. But you can also see where the front wall originally was.
Lights were off inside when I looked in, so we can't see a whole lot, but it does look like they're reusing some of the Price Saver fixtures, but the layout is changing. That, or these fixtures were brought in from elsewhere.
But as we see, the work has been very extensive. And we can confirm there will be
dinosaurs, just like
Hopelawn. (The dinosaurs hadn't been put in yet when I visited first.)
It looks like this will be quite a nice store, and if stores like Linden and Hopelawn are any indication, it will be beautiful and well-run. But we'll find out.
I unfortunately can't be at this store on opening day, but hopefully I'll get there in the first few weeks to check it out!
