TOUR: DeCicco Family Markets - Katonah, NY

DeCicco Family Markets Owner: Christina DeCicco Opened:  2016 Cooperative:  Krasdale Foods Location:  132 Bedford Rd, Katonah, NY Photographed:  July 9, 2021 Yesterday we saw a DeCicco & Sons , and today is a different part of the same family, who own DeCicco Family Markets. While the DeCicco & Sons side seems to be rapidly expanding, Family Markets seems to be slowly shrinking. Their latest new store was this one, which opened in a former A&P they acquired in A&P's bankruptcy auction; in 2018, they closed a store in Cross River, NY, which is now a Green Way Markets, and in 2023, they closed a location in Cornwall. The stores are also less gourmet-angled, with this one looking very attractive -- it's a pleasant and very nice store -- but it doesn't look like a real gourmet market the way yesterday's store did. I'm not sure what A&P's produce department would've looked like, or what their layout overall was, but DeCicco Family Markets did...

Snapshot: DeCicco Family Markets - Jefferson Valley, NY

DeCicco Family Markets Owner:  Frank & Christina DeCicco Opened:  2003 Previous Tenants:  D'Agostino Cooperative:  Krasdale Location:  3651 Lee Rd, Jefferson Valley, NY Photographed:  May 2019 Apologies for the photographic mediocrity today. I had 26 stores to get to this day, so there was unfortunately no time to stop here. This store was previously a D'Agostino, and the 17,000 square foot location was taken over by the DeCicco family in 2003. I believe it opened as a CTown and at some later point was converted to DeCicco Marketplace (now DeCicco Family Markets, to distinguish from DeCicco & Sons ). I'm willing to bet that this location was not built as a D'Agostino. Can anyone offer insight as to what it was previously? Anyway, Jefferson Valley (part of Yorktown) is our last Westchester stop, next we're taking a slight detour off of US-6 to Mahopac Falls in Putnam County, where we'll see a store tomorrow on The Independent...

TOUR: DeCicco Family Market - New City, NY

Continuing our former Grand Union trend, here we have DeCicco Family Market in New City, NY. There are actually two branches of the DeCicco chain, both of which operate supermarkets under the Krasdale cooperative in this general area. This one, DeCicco Family Markets, seems to be the generally more old-fashioned side of the operation. Both are very upscale stores (this store happened to be crazy expensive, but I don't know if that's universally true for all their locations). The Grand Union sign would have likely been on the wall to the left of the awning originally. You walk into a small but well-stocked produce department. The fake windows on the walls give the store a kind of friendly but also kind of cheesy feel. You can see along the front-end here with GU's signature light box over the checkouts. Again, I'm not quite sure whether the "streetlights" are cool or too fake. The same goes for the ceiling painted like the sky with clouds! T...
