Lincoln Market - Brooklyn, NY (Clarkson Ave)

Lincoln Market Opened: December 2024 Owner:  Khalid Innab Previous Tenants:  none; supermarket previously on property Cooperative:  ASG Location:  210 Clarkson Ave, Brooklyn, NY Photographed: June 20, 2025 When you see today's first post is a Lincoln Market, you know it's gonna be good. The small chain of New York City supermarkets, which grew from a single location in Propsect Lefferts Gardens on Lincoln Place, has made a name for itself in three of the five boroughs with modern and upscale supermarkets. But they're not gourmet stores -- they have high-end selections but also the basics, and they tend to have a good blend of specialty and everyday items. Most recently, I posted their new location in a former Rite Aid in Greenwich Village. That store opened in August of last year, and last November, they cut the ribbon on their brand-new Prospect Lefferts Gardens location. This one is about half a mile southeast of the original Lincoln Place location, but in the s...

Streetside Sights & Scenes: PLG - Flatbush

Well well well, if it isn't time for everyone's favorite feature of any store group, the Streetside Sights & Scenes. Okay, I really do it only because I like it. If you're not interested, come back Sunday for our first Staten Island store tour. For reference, I'm putting these in the order that I took them (because my day's circuit was a little different from the order I posted it in). Here's a shot from my crossing of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge from Staten Island to Brooklyn. A beautiful spring day to visit grocery stores (and walk many miles)! As always, I was not driving at the time of the picture. I was able to get some free street parking for the whole day, without needing to move the car, in a beautiful residential strip in Prospect Park South right near the Cortelyou Market . This cat was having a relaxing morning on a porch near where I parked, but was not in the slightest interested in saying good morning to me. Clearly, I love Brooklyn c...

TOUR: Ideal Food Basket - PLG, Brooklyn, NY

Our fifth and final Ideal Food Basket rounds out our PLG - Flatbush coverage! This 20,000 square foot supermarket opened as an NSA Supermarket in 2006 before converting to Ideal in 2012. The location opened as a Waldbaum's and still was as of the 1980s, but I'd imagine it operated as some other cooperative between that time and 2006 since I highly doubt Waldbaum's was still serious about operating 20,000 square foot stores with no parking lots by 2006. It was a Met Foodmarket for at least some of that time, but it doesn't seem to have been under the same ownership as the Ideal, which is the pattern we saw at 4806 Church and 1086 Brooklyn . Although the store might be small for Waldbaum's, it's very large for this part of Brooklyn. As we'll see, it becomes a much larger superstore inside. Produce lines the left side of the first aisle, with deli, hot food, and seafood on the right side. Looking across the front end from the first aisle. Not...
