There used to be two, but the one a mile and a half north closed to make way for an Amazon Fresh coming at the other end of the mall -- an Amazon Fresh that, of course, never opened. There's also a Market Basket in North Billerica . This store's fresh and modern facade hides the fact that it's a rather old store, dating back to approximately the 1960s. (I couldn't find an exact opening year for this store.) Here's a look at the outside before, and as you can see it had the same rough exterior as Chelmsford . In fact, this store looks a lot like Chelmsford if a bit more dated. Although it's on the older side, it's still 60,000 square feet. Special Report: Amazon Fresh (coming soon) - Billerica, MA

Amazon Fresh Opening: TBA Owner:  Amazon Previous Tenants:  Kmart Cooperative:  none Location:  480 Boston Rd, Billerica, MA Photographed:  March 8, 2025 Another Amazon Fresh coming soon? Probably not. This store is apparently one of the so-called " zombie Amazon Fresh " locations, a fully built-out supermarket of around 42,000 square feet obviously designed to Amazon's specs  that's been completed since at least 2023 . The real estate company's website still says there's a national grocer coming soon here, but Amazon Fresh has yet to open any of their planned Massachusetts stores. And it looks increasingly unlikely that they will. (One is soon to open as a Big Y , for instance.) The store is carved out of part of a former Kmart, and a roughly 40,000 square foot Market Basket recently closed at the other end of the strip mall. Given its timing, it's even possible that the Market Basket closed to make way for Amazon -- that article sure doesn't make ...
