You can see the full list at the bottom of this post, but we're going to begin with a quick revisit to the Newark SuperFresh. This store opened around a year ago when a former CTown was sold to a Key Food owner. The store was renovated while being kept open , and it looks like the store's remodel is coming to an end. The outside has been painted but not too extensively changed, with just a fresh coat of blue and white paint around the outside looking good with the SuperFresh logo. The store would probably benefit from a more extensive exterior remodel, but it's looking pretty good for now. Inside, the store is looking fresh and clean, and some new signage has been added. Does this storefront look familiar? We visited it a while back when it was a CTown , I mean a Town Town, in May 2021 with 2019 pictures. I've returned to report that it's currently being converted to a SuperFresh. The terrible CTown signage around the store's exterior has finally been put out of its misery. Temporary SuperFresh banners have been hung around the store's exterior while the outside is being redone. The inside is mostly done with its renovation. A few notes on this store. When the Save More Meat & Produce Market down in South Bound Brook closed back in 2021, the signage from that store was brought up here, and this one was co-branded CTown and Save More. Save-A-Lot Opened:  2015 Previous Tenants:  Good Deal > Strauss Auto > Key Food Location:  543 Springfield Ave, West Side, Newark, NJ Photographed:  July 2020 Obligatory stop here at a rather uninteresting store on the West Side of Newark about three quarters of a mile west of the Avon Avenue Extra . The store does have some interesting history, though, starting out as a Good Deal (local chain run by Sam Aidekman, whose brother Alex Aidekman was a co-founder of Wakefern/ShopRite and Pathmark). The Good Deal name dates back to the early 1900s when the Aidekmans opened a farmstand in Irvington; the brothers later went their separate ways with two supermarket chains. As with most Save-A-Lots, there are basically no real fresh selections. Produce takes up about 1/4 of one side of the first aisle, with meats (only packaged meats) and deli items on the back wall.
