Location:  3382 Birney Ave, Moosic, PA Photographed:  August 12, 2020 I last visited Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley in the summer of 2020, and the ShopRite of Moosic opened in December 2020. So unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the Moosic ShopRite after it opened, but we do have a picture of the store in progress right behind a former A&P and up the street from a Fresh Grocer that's also Wakefern-affiliated. Here's a look at what the 78,000 square foot store's exterior looks like now that it's open. I'm not sure about that ShopRite sign, shouldn't it be larger and lower? But the interior looks spectacular, designed by Off the Wall. Original Grocery Tenant:  A&P Address: 3516 Birney Ave, Moosic, PA Opened:  1960s Closed:  1969 Later Tenants:  A-Mart (1969-after 1971) Photographed:  August 12, 2020 Today's snapshot is the former A&P of Moosic, where we visited a store that's held a parade of different banners, ending up with The Fresh Grocer , just down the street. As we can tell in the above picture, the roughly 17,000 square foot store was a centennial store when it opened in the 1960s, then became an A&P-owned A-Mart Discount Foods location in 1969, which was in business at least through 1971 (although I can't find any ads that list the location after that year). After A-Mart, I'm not sure if there was another grocer here, but it eventually hosted a variety of other tenants including a mattress store and a car dealer, which it remains today. I mentioned the ShopRite in Moosic a lot in the Gerrity's post, and tomorrow we'll see the ShopRite just before it opened on The Market ...

These days, the store is a Gerrity's Fresh Grocer, and was previously a Gerrity's ShurSave from the 1990s to 2022 when the store was converted. Prior to Gerrity's the store was a Giant Market, later Warehouse Foods and then a Bargains Galore discount supermarket, with other locations at 1101 Moosic St in Scranton (now a CVS), where the Luzerne Gerrity's is now, somewhere in the Narrows Shopping Center in Edwardsville, and somewhere around 41-53 Spring St in Wi...
