This store opened back in March, but I haven't been able to get to the area until more recently. It's really large for a New York City supermarket, at around 33,000 square feet, and it's on the second floor of a new-build development here in Crown Heights. Once we enter, the layout (and the store in general) is really straightforward and, frankly, not exciting. Produce and bakery are in the front-right corner, with cold cuts in the rest of the first aisle and meat/seafood on the back wall. Dairy and frozen are on the left side here. Except for the slightly jagged layout and the big columns, you'd forget you're not in the suburbs once you get inside this store. LIDL Opened: February 25, 2026 Owner:  Schwarz Group Previous Tenants:  Bed Bath & Beyond Cooperative:  none Location:  460 3rd Ave, Manhattan, NY Photographed:  February 27, 2026 Another new NYC LIDL! Like the Park Slope one, which opened recently, this new store in Manhattan's Kips Bay neighborhood (on the east side, slightly below Midtown East) is in a basement. The space was previously home to Bed Bath & Beyond, and now LIDL has claimed the approximately 21,000 square foot space as their own. As is true in Park Slope, only a foyer with escalators and an elevator is at street level. The rest of the supermarket is in the basement. And because it's a basement store, the space is, well, weird. Just like every other supermarket in New York City. Of course, this won't be the newest for long, as a Kips Bay location in Manhattan is set to open on February 26 . I visited Totowa, which opened on February 4, that morning shortly after the doors opened for the first time, but I wasn't able to get the pictures posted until now. So let's check out the new store! At a little over 27,000 square feet, this is on the smaller side for LIDL, although their newer stores seem to be getting smaller. Their expansion seems to be still going strong in the New York metro area, with at least three or four I can think of in progress within the city itself. I don't see much expansion outside of the NY metro area recently, though. This is a very narrow and deep store, with produce and bakery in the front-left corner. Deli/cold c...
