The Eastern European stores have imported groceries, delis, bakeries, and prepared foods, and this 7,000 square foot location is smaller than the Newton store but a bit bigger than Brookline. This store has an entrance on either side, one facing the parking lot in the back and one facing the street in the front. Produce, deli, and bakery make up the store's grand aisle, with a few grocery aisles next to that. This store doesn't have the sprawling prepared foods department that Newton does, but there's still a large selection of fresh items in the small space. In Brookline, we saw the Bazaar on Beacon Street , and today we're checking out a larger supermarket owned by the same group . The Baza Gourmet Food & Spirits here in Newton opened in 2007 in a building that, as far as I can tell, didn't previously house a supermarket. It's 15,000 square feet and tucked away a bit from the main road, but there's quite a bit of retail in this area of Newton. In fact, we're just a block or two over from the recently-closed Stop & Shop at the Newton Nexus , which is now said to be under construction for Trader Joe's. Bazaar on Beacon Street Opened: 1993 Owner:  Sabina Roytman Previous Tenants:  unknown Cooperative:  none Location:  1432 Beacon St, Brookline, MA Photographed:  June 16, 2019 Brookline has a large Jewish and Eastern European population, and the only kosher supermarket in the Boston area . The Bazaar on Beacon Street isn't a kosher supermarket, but it's a location of a local chain of Eastern European supermarkets , with other area locations in Allston, Newton, and Framingham. We'll be seeing the Allston and Newton locations shortly. It opened in 1993 in a space of about 2500 square feet a few blocks west of Coolidge Corner . The centerpiece of the market is a large deli in the middle of the store , with various imported groceries lining the outside. In 2022, the chain stopped stocking items imported from Russia in a show of support for Ukraine. It doesn't look like there was previously another grocer here prior to Bazaar, but I don't know that for sure. And th...
