The Market Report arrives in southern New Hampshire for a look at one of the newest Whole Foods! This store opened in July in a new development called the Tuscan Village, and takes up around 35,000 square feet on the ground floor of this complex. (Given what happened in Nashua, I do wonder if there's a chance this was originally planned as an Amazon Fresh but pivoted after that chain was wound down. I don't have any real evidence that it was, but it's a possibility.)
This is one of the nicer Whole Foods I've been in recently, and it took me a bit to fully realize exactly why: It's so well-stocked. I feel like a lot of Whole Foods locations I've been in, especially my local one, are a mess so often. Some days, my local Whole Foods is in complete disarray -- I've seen entire cases empty, random cart storage in the middle of an aisle, produce displays completely wiped out and never replenished, and just general chaos across the store. But this one looks like a museum. I get that it's still early and close to the grand opening, but this store really looked spectacular. I visited about a month and a half after opening, so it wasn't still pristine from opening day either. Check out these produce displays!
On the other hand, I did see a gaggle of well-dressed corporate types walking around the store -- you'll see a few of them in some later pictures -- so it's possible this store was dressed up for their visit. Regardless, it was looking fantastic. Produce is up here in the front-right corner, with wine and beer in the rest of the first aisle followed by cheese...
...and dairy lines the rest of the back wall. Meat and seafood are in the back-left corner, with deli and baked goods lining the left-side wall of the store. It's not huge, but very pleasant. It's around 10,000 square feet smaller than the Daniel Webster location in Nashua I linked above.
Although I do believe Whole Foods decor these days is significantly cheaper-looking and less exciting than it once was, I appreciate that there are still some fun elements like this hanging ceiling piece over the health and beauty department. And check out these perfectly-stocked aisles...
Deli/bakery and prepared foods are here in the last aisle, extending in front of the butcher and seafood area.
But in some areas, such as this wall, the very neutral decor just looks bland and washed-out. Eat colorfully, this sign says, but that's with white lettering on a light gray wall. Seriously? I suppose it allows the colorful food to jump out, but I'm not exactly seeing that either.
Still, this is an attractive and pleasant store. Not ground-breaking nor particularly unique, but a solid Whole Foods nonetheless.
