I rarely get this far south in New Jersey -- we're about 30 miles east of Wilmington here, and almost 100 miles from the area where I live so this isn't a frequent destination of mine. But when I do get the chance to make it down here, I get to see some really interesting stores, including the new H Mart in Cherry Hill and this store, the spectacular new ShopRite of Cherrywood Plaza! Okay, spectacular except for one thing: who approved the lettering on that sign? No, the S isn't falling down, it was simply installed wrong before opening. Here's what the lettering is supposed to look like. With that gripe out of the way, let's take an extensive tour of what must be one of the best ShopRites I've ever been to. ShopRite of Knorr St Owner: David Zallie Opened:  ca. 1980 Previous Tenants:  Food Fair (ca. 1960s-late 1970s) Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Corp. Location:  6725 Frankford Ave, Mayfair, Philadelphia, PA Photographed:  December 2021 Just next door from yesterday's Save-A-Lot is this ShopRite, an early 80s store in a former Food Fair. Given the store's outdated exterior (and only recently was it switched over to the new logo, which officially was introduced in 2002), the interior is surprisingly up-to-date but you can tell that the building is older. Despite the fact that the store has been exensively expanded, it's still only around 38,000 square feet. In 2020, a conflict between the two branches of the Zallie family, both of which owned ShopRite stores, led to a settlement involving David Zallie acquiring all of the Zallie family stores.
