In turn, it's about half the size of the ShopRite outside downtown, and comparable in size to the SuperFresh in Hopelawn at around 30,000 square feet. The Supremo here in Perth Amboy is in the ground floor of King Plaza, a residential tower. The store itself is under the tower and its parking garage, with parking for the store underneath as well. As we'll see, the store is one of the older Supremos but has been updated, probably in the spring of 2020 in preparation for SuperFresh's grand opening. CTown Supermarkets Owner: Iris Benzan-Diaz Opened:  1983 Previous Tenants:  A&P > ACME Markets Cooperative:  Krasdale Foods Location:  272 Maple St, Perth Amboy, NJ Photographed:  June 2020 Today's store tour is a 13,000 square foot store which is actually a combination of two storefronts, one a former ACME and one a former A&P that A&P combined later (see history here ). CTown opened in 1983 and is currently owned by Iris Benzan-Diaz. Although it's the smaller of the two supermarkets in center city Perth Amboy (we'll see the larger in a few days), it's still popular -- especially for its prepared foods -- and a nice store. The store is oriented towards the street with parking on the side, with produce lining the left side of the grand aisle and deli/bakery/prepared foods on the right side. Tropical Supermarket Owner: Ricardo Hernandez Opened:  2016 Previous Tenants:  Fine Fare Supermarkets Cooperative:  Key Food Stores Location:  442 Smith St, Perth Amboy, NJ Photographed:  June 2020 Although we saw the ShopRite in Perth Amboy yesterday, today we're seeing the first of our stores really in downtown Perth Amboy. Even so, it's outside of the central part of the city. The 13,000 square foot store is still very nice despite being about 1/4 of the size of the ShopRite. The store is very wide and shallow, with grocery aisles running from side to side. Checkouts line the left side wall, with meat, deli, and prepared foods on the right side; frozen on the front wall and produce/dairy on the back. To make the most sense, we're going to tour the store starting in the back. The produce and dairy aisle is beautiful. By the way, this store opened around 2010 as a Fine Fare but was purchased about six years later and switched to Tropical. Tropical at the time...
