Whole Foods Market - Brooklyn, NY (Williamsburg/Grand St)

Whole Foods Market Opened:  February 26, 2026 Owner:  Amazon Previous Tenants:  none Cooperative:  none Location:  774 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY Photographed:  February 27, 2026 It's time to visit the latest Whole Foods Daily Shop, which opened in the trendy Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg this week. This store is just under 8,000 square feet, putting it in line with the other New York City locations . This and a smaller store in Hoboken, NJ are the only small-format Daily Shops outside of Manhattan in this area (there's another in Virginia), but Whole Foods has said they intend to continue to expand the chain. The store is designed very similarly to the other NYC locations (Hoboken, by nature of its history, has a rather different interior design). Produce is the first department you enter to, with baked goods on the front wall. Prepared foods, cheese, and meat/seafood are in the first aisle, with dairy on the back wall and frozen in the last aisle. Th...

LIDL - Brooklyn, NY

LIDL Opened:  May 23, 2025 Owner:  The Schwarz Group Previous Tenants:  assorted non-grocery tenants Cooperative:  none Location:  490 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY Photographed:  June 13, 2025 Another new LIDL for NYC! The discount chain continues to grow, albeit much more slowly than originally forecast, and here in downtown Brooklyn the latest location opened up in late May. At 30,000 square feet, it's not huge, but it's fairly large for an urban Brooklyn store. It follows a store that opened at the Gateway Center in January . The store is set up in a highly unusual way. The majority of the supermarket is on the second floor -- in a space previously occupied by a Raymour & Flanigan furniture store -- but a small space on the first floor, which has its own entrance, is home to the bakery and floral departments. You can either go to those departments and then check out at the self-checkouts, then leave out the front doors, or you can leave that room without ...

TOUR: Food Bazaar Supermarket - Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY

Today's store tour is one I'm very excited for! This 55,000 square foot store is located right on the border of Bushwick and Williamsburg (these neighborhoods aren't very well defined anyway). A former Big R Supermarket, this store became a Food Bazaar in 2001 or so I believe, coinciding with a major renovation at the time. Much later, in 2016, the store was totally gut-renovated and significantly expanded to its current size. On the far left side of the storefront, a former laundromat was expanded into around 2010, but was later remodeled into a deli-bakery-cafe department. Oh, and it's actually also on Manhattan Avenue, just much farther south. Before we head into the store, let's take a minute to wander around the exterior and check out some of the amazing murals that line the store's walls. Through a partnership with local nonprofit Groundswell, eight Food Bazaars across three boroughs have received at least one large scale mural per store (this one h...
