Four of the stores I visited when I first came to Quincy in 2019 closed by the time I returned in 2023. Two of the stores, a Roche Brothers and a Big Y that we'll see in a few days, are still open but are now Asian supermarkets. More than anything else, then, I would assume the reason behind the closures is just a demographic shift. Right in Quincy Center, a delightful little natural food store is the one that hasn't been replaced by anything and, as far as I know, the 8200 square foot space is now occupied by a political campaign office.
